Prairiewoods LEED-EB Certification in Sight
Prairiewoods is working to obtain LEED-EB certification. LEED-EB stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings. This certification is through the United States Green Building Council. We are currently in the last three months of our performance period, which will end May 1st. After this time, we will find out what our certification level is – certified, silver, gold or platinum.
We are hoping for a silver or gold certification. LEED certification will demonstrate that we meet the guidelines for operating and maintaining our Center in a sustainable fashion. It will enhance Prairiewoods’ ability to serve as a regional resource for education in sustainable practices. LEED looks at the following categories for certification; Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Air Quality and Innovation & Design Process.
